A warm welcome...

Billy Bees Learning
Dyscalculia Network associate

Dyscalculia is a specific learning difficulty (SpLD) in mathematics, characterised by persistent difficulties in understanding and processing numbers. A key feature of dyscalculia is difficulty with numerical magnitude processing

(the ability to understand quantity, compare numbers, and recognise numerical relationships).

These underlying difficulties can impact the development of mathematical skills such as number sense, calculation, and problem-solving. They are typically persistent, occur despite appropriate teaching, and are not associated with general intellectual ability.

At Billy Bees Learning, we provide a range of services including diagnostic dyscalculia assessments, specialist teaching, training for educators, and carefully designed resources to support learners with mathematical difficulties.

We offer comprehensive diagnostic dyscalculia assessments to identify specific mathematical learning difficulties and provide a clear understanding of each learner’s profile.

Assessments are always conducted in person, in line with guidance from the SpLD Assessment Standards Committee (SASC), to ensure a thorough and accurate evaluation and followed up with a detailed report containing practical recommendations for home and educational settings.

We offer a range of training and CPD workshops focused on early numeracy, dyscalculia, maths anxiety, and supporting children’s mathematical understanding and confidence.

Our sessions explore how children develop mathematical skills, how to recognise and support those who may be struggling, and practical strategies to use in educational and home settings.

Workshops are suitable for educators and parents, and can be tailored to meet the needs of your setting.

We offer both online and in-person specialist teaching, supporting learners to develop secure foundational maths skills, build confidence, and reduce maths anxiety.

We primarily work with children aged 8 to I4, with a focus on strengthening core understanding and addressing underlying difficulties.

Support is also available for older students, including those working towards GCSE level—please get in touch to discuss individual needs.
